The Portrayal of Black British Male Beauty Part 2–Hot Black British Actors
--
My list of black/bi-racial/mixed race British men I find physically attractive.
See Part 1 here for a discussion on the marginalisation of black male British beauty.
- Regé Jean Page
Regé Jean Page lit up the screen in Bridgerton as the dashing Duke of Hastings. His performance was just note-perfect, made me miss live theatre even more than I do already. Regé Jean Page was also fantastic in American legal drama For The People
2. Kingsley Ben-Adir
I first discovered Kingsley Ben Adir in the Disney Christmas film Noelle. Got to be honest I stopped concentrating on the film when I saw him, just too distracted. Kingsley Ben-Adir’s been around on the London theatre scene quite a bit, doing work at the Tricyle Theatre, Regent’s Park and Shakespeare at the Old Vic. He’s done some British shows and now making his way across the pond. He recently starred in One Night in Miami, a fantastic performance as Malcolm X.
3. Elliott Knight
First time I saw Elliott Knight was in the fantasy drama Once Upon A Time. His appearance as Merlin in season 5 was heightened for me. The set up to the reveal of this sorcerer had been building since season one, I knew it was going to be Merlin and was expecting some old white man — Michael Gambon type, long white beard cliché, boredom central. But then out comes this cute British actor in his late 20’s or something, honestly the inversion of expectations made him seem even more attractive than he is anyway.
Elliott Knight starred as Sinbad in the Sky1 drama back in 2012, also starred with Lucy Hale in Life Sentence and recently the horror film Color Out Of Space with Nicholas Cage.
4. Daniel Kaluuya
I just love Daniel Kaluuya’s cheekbones. He’s a fantastic actor too. I’ve been a fan of his performances for years, he’s been in Skins, Johnny English 2, Doctor Who, Black Mirror, all sorts. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in Get Out, played a major role in Marvel’s Black Panther. And now Kaluuya has won a Golden Globe and a second Oscar nomination for his performance this year in Judas and the Black Messiah, playing revolutionary socialist Fred Hampton.
5. Nick Sagar
I’ve only seen Nick Sagar in Netflix Christmas romcom The Princess Switch. I’ve not seen him in anything else but apparently he’s been in Supergirl, Shadowhunters and various other shows.
6. Adrian Lester
Adrian Lester CBE is just one of Britain’s finest actors. The Oliver award winning actor is known for playing con-artist Michael (Mickey Bricks) Stone in Hustle. Lester’s done Othello at the National Theatre, loads of stage work, loads of TV and film, huge fan of his performances.
7. Alfred Enoch
Other than I think he’s handsome (and love his dimples) I don’t really have an opinion on Alfred Enoch’s acting. He’s been around a lot but I’ve not seen any of his work, at least not any major roles, not enough to form a definitive opinion on his acting. I saw him as Dean Thomas in Harry Potter, and small roles in Wired and Sherlock. Alfred Enoch was a major cast member in How To Get Away With Murder, with the brilliant Viola Davis as the lead, I should really watch it because I do love Viola Davis. Apparently he was nominated for a NAACP Image Award for Supporting Actor. Alfred Enoch also starred in the play Red at the Wyndham Theatre with Alfred Molina.
8. Samuel Anderson
Samuel Anderson, like half the British actors in their late 30’s/early 40’s, was in acclaimed play The History Boys back in the day. Since then he’s been around a fair bit. Anderson was in sitcom Trollied, a supporting role in Gavin & Stacey, Doctor Who as teacher/former soldier Danny Pink, starred in Emmerdale, and recently Channel 4 Drama Loaded and Netflix series Another Life.
9. Noel Clarke
Noel Clarke is a fantastic actor, writer and director. Known for his films Kidulthood and Adulthood but they’re a bit dark for me. I actually adore his film 4,3,2,1. It’s one of my favourite films ever — a crime thriller about 4 teenage girls over one weekend. Practically every sociological issue is raised — homosexuality, divorce, teenage pregnancy, rape, racism, sexism, class, migration. And it stars Emma Roberts, Tamsin Egerton, Shanika Warren-Markland and Ophelia Lovibond. Totally awesome. Noel Clarke was also in Doctor Who, Star Trek, various other projects, now he and Ashley Walters star in Sky series Bulletproof.
10. Jacob Anderson
Jacob Anderson was in Game of Thrones as Grey Worm. He was also in Noel Clarke films Adulthood and 4,3,2,1. He’s also been in Broadchurch, Primeval, Casualty and Outnumbered.
